life and love

All my life I've longed for that movie romance where the first glance is enough to find my soulmate. I feel like I have a soulmate in one of my best friends. As soon as I saw him, I knew him. Even now whenever I need to I can call him and I'll feel better. Connections can be made; connections exist in this world, but love... It's so abstract, so ephemeral. How can it even be defined? How do I know if I've found it? Do I even need to find it or can I be happy with simple connections?
